Co-owned and trained by a trusted friend and hunting partner, Carl Vinke, Mateo lives a fulfilling life as both a dedicated hunting companion and a beloved family dog. In the field, he is a hard-charging, big-running dog, demonstrating remarkable speed, athleticism, and toughness. He is capable of ranging out to 4-500 yards in open terrain to maximize his search pattern. A true professional, he instinctively adjusts his range based on cover, stretching out in open plains and tightening up in thick terrain to ensure exceptional ground coverage on extended hunts. With a powerful nose, he confidently points game at a distance, holding steadfastly on scent even in challenging wind conditions. Mateo is a complete all-around hunting dog, just as dynamic in the water as he is on land, demonstrating natural ability and strong retrieving drive.

Despite his intense drive and relentless work ethic in the field, Mateo has an incredible "off-switch" at home. After a long day of hunting, he can often be found lounging quietly with his family, easily transitioning from high-energy worker to calm house dog. He has a playful, clownish personality that thrives on human interaction and attention, often engaging in lighthearted antics that bring joy to those around him. A pleasure to be around in any setting, he gets along well with people and other dogs, making him an ideal balance of immense drive and a stable, easy-going temperament.

Mateo is available for select breedings to females with a minimum of a Utility Preparatory Test (UPT) or Gun Dog Prize in NAVHDA.
